EXHIBITION DATES
June 28 - August 30, 2025.

Marta Chilindrón was born in La Plata, Argentina in 1951. However, in 1969 she settled in New York where she attended the State University of New York in Old Westbury. She apprenticed with Uruguayan masters of contemporary and modern art Luis Camnitzer and Julio Alpuy. Yet she forged her own artistic path and since 1998 has been creating colorful hinged collapsible geometric acrylic sculptures that allow the viewer to move, fold and reconfigure its parts. Thus, the aesthetic experience of her works hinges not only in seeing but also in manipulating them; offering the viewer the option to go from passive contemplation to a performance that negotiates their shape and arrangement —within the limits of their flexible design. Her mode of production includes manual labor, and high-technology tools like laser cutters, 3D modelling, and robotic manufacturing.
