Ana Maria Tavares

Tautorama

Sicardi Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of work by Ana Maria Tavares at the Paço das Artes in São Paulo. The exhibition's title—Tautorama—refers to tautology (the repetition of the same idea expressed in different ways) and hórama, a Greek word that means “something seen,” “vista” or “spectacle.”

Tavares removed the panels of the gallery to allow what was concealed to be seen, and suggest another sort of reflection on the space of the museum presented as an artwork. Tavares’s work will construct a new perspective for seeing the Paço das Artes.

The exhibition also includes 47 continuous meters of digitally constructed and enlarged images, which establish a mimetic relationship between the internal and external spaces of the museum.
