Graciela Hasper Unveils Permanent Installation Continuous Motion George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) Conversation

Graciela Hasper [1966, Argentina], based in Buenos Aires, brings bold color and geometric form to her monumental-scale mural, installed on the Arrivals Level of the new IAH Terminal E—a highlight of the Houston Airport System's $1.5 billion terminal redevelopment program. The first phase of the new Terminal E-Ticketing Lobby opened in March 2025.

Continuous Motion comprises 322 metal elements, industrially painted in 75 different hues and assembled like a puzzle. As Hasper explains, "In an airport, motion is extensive and constant: sometimes in straight lines, other times in curved lines, passengers with their suitcases compose a grand ballet where the engineering of the building, the rules of internal paths, the unpredictability of some routes, the changing accelerations, and the colors all mingle with grace. Both order and disorder prevail: the same essential tension that is present throughout my artistic practice."

The City of Houston commissioned the project on behalf of Houston Airports through the city's Civic Art Program and Houston Arts Alliance. “Artists like Graciela Hasper are not just creating art—they’re shaping the emotional and visual landscape of how people experience Houston. Art has the power to connect us all,” said Alton DuLaney, curator of public art for Houston Airports. “In a space like our new international terminal—where people from all over the world are coming and going—Continuous Motion reminds us of what Houston stands for: innovation, creativity and a warm welcome.”
