“Locos y Lapas” is a video installation by the Anglo-Mexican artist Melanie Smith that invites us to look at the other side of the landscape of the coastal city of Los Vilos and its surroundings. It brings together images recorded audiovisually in the context of a residency held at the Bodegón Cultural de Los Vilos in August 2023 together with the curator and philosopher José Luis Barrios. It is accompanied by five paintings and two videos where the artist shows her way of approaching the cultural, social and existential imaginary of places of vital escape to the utopia of the idea of Western Modernity.
