Press Release

Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino presents Portrait, a selection of works by artists Geraldo de Barros, Antonio Berni, Mariano Dal Verme, Dias & Riedweg, Marco Maggi, Gabriel de la Mora, Oscar Muñoz, Claudio Perna, Liliana Porter, Armando Reveron, Miguel Angel Ríos, Miguel Ángel Rojas and Pedro Tyler.  The exhibition will include collages, montages, prints, photographs and video.  The opening reception for the exhibition is Thursday, January 18, 6-8pm.

The tradition of portraiture is one of oldest genres in the arts.  Historically produced for nobility and to represent religious subjects, the genre and its subjects have undergone significant change in the past few centuries.  Each artist in this exhibition creates portraits using his or her unique visual language, whether it is straightforward, conceptual, or imagined; with an approach that challenges the conventions of portraiture.
