During his recent book tour, James Oles (author of Art and Architecture in Mexico, 2013) led a seminar at Sicardi Gallery on the topic of Mexican abstraction. Seminar participants considered various curatorial models for presenting Latin American abstraction, and discussed a lineage of Mexican abstract artists often neglected by these models. In attendance were curators, historians, graduate students, and artists from Houston, Austin, and New York.
